What is the ILM72?
The ILM72 is the result of a major study carried out by AQR in association with the ILM. It looked at over 50 leadership models and found that all had their origins in the same components – 6 scales which represented different aspect of leadership style..
All leaders adopt a preferred way of working. There is no right or wrong style. We know that style is situational. Usefully ILM72 profiles can be aggregated to form a picture of the leadership style of a group. ILM72 measures adopted style across six scales representing the six aspects of leadership style
The Global Scales – Core Leadership Competencies
Further research showed that there were three core competencies which are crucial for leadership effectiveness.
How do we measure leadership style & effectiveness?
The ILM72 is a unique 72 item high quality reliable psychometric measure. It is normative which enables users to assess leadership style and effectiveness before and after an event such as a training & development or coaching programme.
The ILM72 provides a highly effective and user friendly set of reports designed for optimum impact in a wide range of scenarios.
Developing Leadership Style and Effectiveness
AQR has a programme of interventions which suits all applications. This includes ILM accredited programmes at all levels from Level 2 (first line manager) to Level 7 (senior executive)
Almost 100 senior managers undertook the questionnaire with an excellent and positive response. Importantly many began to respond to what the reports were indicating about their behaviour and performance utilising the questionnaire feedback as a starting point for development discussions.
We built ILM72 into the majority of our programmes. It simply adds an immense amount of value to the understanding and application of leadership with which most businesses are now concerned.
