2002 saw the launch of the 4Cs Mental Toughness concept and the MTQ48 measure. In recent times this has been developed into a powerful 8-factor concept with a high-quality measure in the MTQPlus.
We now have a very good and evidenced understanding of a personality trait that is fundamentally important for wellbeing, success, agility and aspirations.
That development is predominantly down to a collaboration between academics and expert practitioners. It is a factor that is central to the ethos of AQR International. Our vision is to create ideas, tools and materials that practitioners can use with confidence, have real science behind them and can deliver good sustainable results.
In 2021, we added structure to this forming the ICMTRD together with an Advisory Board of circa 40 people – academics, practitioners and other experts – who meet regularly to advise, guide and steer the ongoing development of this most important concept.
What we know is that our understanding of this concept grows all the time and so does global interest in its application in a huge range of activities.
We are proud of our approach, and we are humbled that so many give their time and their attention to supporting us in developing this valuable concept.
