I used to think happiness was a range of positive emotions that could equally appear and disappear at the whim of someone else, only to be replaced with negative feelings such as sadness, doubt and grief. Now that I can manage my emotions by using the 4C’s of Mental Toughness I am far more open to ideas such as this one from French Biochemist turned Buddhist Monk Matthieu Ricard. In this ‘oldie but goldie’ TED video from 2004, he describes how we can train our minds to develop a habit that achieves for us a true sense of serenity, fulfillment and happiness.
