Our work on Mental Toughness sheds light on why this might be. Research shows that senior leaders are generally mentally tough. They tend to be risk-oriented with the capacity to learn from what happens. They also tend to be less sensitive to each other, staying focused on important outcomes. They take differences in their stride, accepting others. Research shows that they are better at divergent thinking. Both have implications for team dynamics.
